Globalization and a changing population structure are intensifying the worldwide competition for talent. To remain profitable in our increasingly globalized economy, to make successful use of growth opportunities and to respond even better to our customer’s needs, diversity is key for our company. This means a broad range of different cultures, religions, nationalities and skin colors, ethnic and social groups as well as genders and age groups. It is a proven fact that heterogeneous teams are more creative, more innovative and more successful than homogenous groups. In addition, diversity makes a company more attractive as an employer and increases employee satisfaction.
To further promote diversity at Siemens, Peter Löscher became the first person in the company to sign the Siemens Diversity Charter on December 15, 2010, on the occasion of Diversity Day at Siemens. The charter sets forth the guidelines and structure for diversity within the company, including basic conditions for implementing diversity in the various regions and countries. All employees are invited to sign the Siemens Diversity Charter and thereby set an important example for diversity within the company. On Diversity Day, Denice Kronau, Siemens Chief Diversity Officer, spoke about diversity trends and their future orientation; Siemens Managing Board Member Barbara Kux participated in an innovation panel and Siemens Managing Board Member Peter Y. Solmssen shared his personal experience and views on diversity. At Siemens, diversity is a key component of corporate strategy and enjoys a long-standing tradition. Our ten largest regional companies alone employee people of 140 different nationalities.
