Siemens lights up the world's biggest rotating Christmas star: a wind turbine north of Munich,
with 9,000 light-emitting diodes from OSRAM shining on its rotor blades. Created as a cooperative
effort between Siemens and multimedia artist Michael Pendry, the "Siemens Superstar" is a unique
combination of art and technology. It is also a dual symbol, representing both green innovations
and renewable energy sources. The light-emitting diodes shine as brightly as 20,000 Christmas candles,
yet consume no more electricity than two electric kettles or one hair dryer. The "Siemens Superstar"
thus lights the way to a green and sustainable future – and not only during the Christmas season.
An eventful year is coming to a close. We’d now like to take the opportunity to thank very much for
your loyalty to Siemens and wish all of you and your families a happy holiday season and all the
best for the New Year.
