On October 4-11, Minsk held IV International Festival of Yury Bashmet sponsorship to which
Siemens gives from 2006.
Within the framework of IV International Festival of Yury Bashmet the concerts took place on
the scenes of the National Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Opera and Ballet of the Republic of
Belarus and the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society. The audience could take pleasure in
the performances of Galina Vishnevskaya, Yury Bashmet, Vasily Lobanov, Dimut Poppen,
Ulyana Lopatkina.
The conductor of the State Symphonic Orchestra “New Russia”, People`s Artist of the USSR
Yury Bashmet, People`s Artist of Russia Uliana Lopatkina, the soloist of the Bavaria
Opera Elena Maksimova, Russian violinist Alena Baeva, Belarussian pianist Rostislav
Krimer, soloists of the Bolshoi Academic Theatre of Russia, ballet troupe of the Ukraine
Opera Theatre took part in the concert on the opening day of the festival.
Apart from concerts, within the framework of the festival lections, meetings, seminars
and master-classes with the participation of eminent musicians were held in the Belarusian
State Academy of Music. The closing day of the festival was marked with the performance
of the chamber ensemble “Soloists of Moscow” under the direction of Yury Bashmet and
G. Shirma State Academic Choir of the Republic of Belarus with the participation of the
Bolshoi Theatre of Opera and Ballet of the Republic of Belarus, the Bonn Opera and the
State Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Russia soloists.
With the aim to consolidate international cooperation in the sphere of culture, promote
highest achievements of world and national art and to support young talented performers
Siemens, as usual, became a sponsor of this unique event within the program of social
responsibility of the company.
We would remind you that I International Festival of Yury Bashmet was held in Minsk in 2006.
Since then, the festival has acquired the reputation of one of the major events in the
cultural life of Belarus which is annually visited by the most outstanding artists of
the present. In Belarus the festival is held with support of Ministry of Culture of the
Republic of Belarus and Minsk City Executive Committee.
