Australia’s most environmentally friendly coal-fired power plant
29.06.2008
With 750-MW electric power, Kogan Creek is Australia’s biggest generating unit of
a coal-fired power plant. Situated near Chinchilla, Queensland, it also belongs
to the most efficient generating units in Australia. The plant meets the strictest
environmental protection requirements set by the Australian authorities and the
World Bank. For example, it consumes as much as 90% less water than do comparable
conventional power plants. Equipped with state-of-the-art steam power plant technology,
the plant will cover the region's growing demand for electricity without harming
the environment. The order was placed by CS Energy, Queensland's largest
government-owned energy company.
