From October 17 to October 23 Yury Bashmet International Festival has taken place in Minsk. The best voila-palyer in the world, founder of many prestigious international contests and festivals in Europe and America, National artist of the USSR Yury Bashmet presented the festival organized in his name in Minsk.
The initiator of the festival is the laureate of international contests, graduate of Cologne Higher Musical School, post-graduate of Royal Academy of Music in London, scholar of special fund of the president of the Republic of Belarus Rostislav Krimer, who was born and grew up in Brest. The initiative of our compatriot has been supported by the organizers of the festival – Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, Minsk City Executive Committee and "Palace of the Republic", – as well as sponsors, among which is presented Siemens AG.
The Festival realizes the idea of inviting world-famous people for joint performance with the most talented young musicians. Thus, on October 17 in the concert on the stage of Belarus State Philharmonic the compositions of Schubert and Brahms were performed both by young talented violoncellists Marie-Elizabeth Hecker and Alexey Kiselev, and one of the most famous pianists and composers of his generation, teacher-instructor of Moscow Conservatory, professor of Cologne Higher Musical School Vassily Lobanov, as well as National artist of Russia, professor of Moscow Conservatory, holder of Dmitri Shostakovich International Prize for outstanding achievements in the sphere of world art, laureate of "Triumph" Prize, "sample violinist" Viktor Tretiakov.
The conductor of “Novaya Rossiya” symphony orchestra, founder and conductor of "Solisty Moskvy" chamber orchestra Yury Bashmet has played with the famous "Solisty Moskvy" orchestra at the stage of Palace of the Republic. Minsk music community has not only seen Bashmet-conductor, but also heard his viola playing. Maestro soloed during the performance of concertino of Paganini, Shnitke’s polka and other compositions.
In the framework of the Festival several masterclasses of the most famous musicians have taken place in the Gymnasium-College of Belarus Academy of Music.
Festival has ended on October 23 with the concert of world-famous musician, art director, conductor and soloist of "Kremerata Baltica" chamber orchestra Gidon Kremer. The concert has been conducted by Lika Kremer.
