23.07.2010 In our globalized world, constant cost and market pressures force companies to
optimize their business processes as well as to act faster, more selectively and
more efficiently. In managing their global workflows, companies are confronted with
ever higher requirements. Only those that sustainably produce high quality products
can maintain a competitive edge in the global economy.
To enable companies from a wide range of industries to achieve this goal, Siemens
has developed the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software and the concept of
the Digital Factory. This topic was the theme of a specialized conference, the
Siemens PLM Connection, which took place from June 28 to July 1 in Dallas. This
conference showcased new, innovative products used to increase CAD/CAM/CAE
productivity and further product development. The High Definition PLM technology
was also demonstrated, which helps optimize the use of data and increase the speed
of decision-making within PLM.
With the Digital Factory approach, product development as well as production
planning and design can be carried out virtually and implemented for production
at a later point. It enables complex production steps and the current operating
status to be simulated quickly and economically. This can shorten market launch
times by as much as 50 percent. The Digital Factory is based on the PLM software.
Software solutions for vertical integration, as a preliminary stage of the
Digital Factory, can promote effective cooperation among all company units.
The specially coordinated Siemens portfolio comprising PLM software and automation
technology enables companies to launch products quickly and maintain high productivity.
